The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school. He is responsible for ensuring the classical mission and high academic standards of the school through oversight, chairing the Curriculum Committee, research and other methods. He works closely with teachers in monitoring the curriculum implementation in the classroom and encouraging continuous teacher education and improvement. He is responsible for mentoring the shepherding of the students' interaction with parents on student issues.
In addition to his duties as Principal, Mr. Woernle is the Boys Soccer Coach.
Eric is now in his third year as Principal, but is no stranger to GCA, having taught Logic, Latin, and Omnibus (Middle Ages through the Reformation) the first two years of GCA (2004 - 2006). In addition, he taught fifth grade at Providence Center for Classical Studies. His wife, Tara, taught second and third grades at GCA during those years.
Eric earned a B.A. in History and an M.A. in Christianity and Classical Studies. Most recently, Eric served us through the United States Army for eight years. His last position was as Logistical Planner - Brigate 1v1, Officer in Charge stationed at Fort Meade, MD.
Eric is married to Tara and they have three daughters whom are students at GCA in K5, 2nd grade and 5th grade. They recently welcomed a new baby boy to the family in September 2016.
Nancy Blough - Admissions Director / Marketing and Communications Director
Mrs. Blough helped start Greenville Classical Academy in 2004 and served as a board member from 2004 - 2007. She served as Athletic Director from 2008 - July 2014 and Upper School Director starting in July 2010 when the Upper School transitioned to a University Model School. She has been GCA's Admissions Director since January 2014. She is also the Marketing Director in charge of the website and social media. She received a B.S. in Business Education with a minor in English from Bob Jones University. Nancy and her husband of 29 years, Hudson, live in Greer, SC and are members of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church. They have three children and their youngest son is an 11th grade student at GCA. She enjoys photography, dogs, traveling and drinking all kinds of tea.
Jenny Spears - Dean of Academics and Faculty Development / Curriculum Development / School Counselor
Mrs. Spears earned a B.S. in Home Economics and an M.S. in Education both from Georgia Southern College (now University.) In addition to being the Dean of Academics, Dean of Faculty Development, Dean of Curriculum Development and School Counselor, Jenny also teaches Study Skills. Jenny previously was a K5 teacher, 5th/6th grade teacher, board member and Dean of Faculty at GCA. She has 23 years of teaching experience and two years of academic advising experience as Diploma Consultant at Veritas Press Online Academy in PA.
Mrs. Godwin earned a B.A. from the University of South Carolina Upstate. She taught kindergarten at Southside Christian School for two years. She and her husband Roger have four grown children and are members at Second Presbyterian Church in downtown Greenville. This is her eighth year teaching K4 at GCA.
Mrs. Lowery earned a B.A. in Guidance and Counseling and a M.S. in Counseling from Bob Jones University. This is her 14th year teaching kindergarten. Debi and her husband Scott have one daughter. Debi is an avid runner and it's not unusual to see her running around the playground during recess with her "Smart Cookies" as she lovingly calls her K5 students. This is her seventh year teaching K5 at GCA.

Mrs. Tilley earned B.S. degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Vanderbilt University. Mrs. Tilley and her husband Mark have four children, three of whom are students at GCA in third grade, eighth grade, and twelth grade. Their oldest son graduated from GCA in May. This is her fifth year teaching K5 at GCA.
Diane Bales - 1st Grade
Mrs. Bales and her family moved to the Upstate from Florida in 2016. Diane earned a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from Pensacola Christian College. She and her husband Keith have two children both of whom are students at GCA in 9th and 11th grades. This is her seventh year of teaching and her second year of teaching at GCA.
Rachel Lockaby - 2nd Grade
Mrs. Lockaby has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Tabernacle Christian College. She has 17 years of previous teaching experience in Christian schools. She and her husband John have three children, the youngest of which is in 5th grade at GCA. This is her fifth year of teaching 2nd Grade at GCA.
Cindy Mann - 3rd Grade
Mrs. Mann graduated from Bob Jones University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She and her husband Johnny have an adult daughter. She taught for several years in Christian and public schools before homeschooling her daughter from K-12th grade. They are members of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville where Cindy teaches Sunday School and her husband serves as elder. This is her ninth year teaching at GCA
Mrs. Vidal graduated from Bob Jones University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Prior to coming to teach at GCA, Ruth conducted classes in public, private, and Christian schools teaching art history as part of the BJU Museum & Gallery staff. She is an IEW Accredited Instructor. This is her second year teaching at GCA.

Mrs. Tate has a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M. Ed. in Reading Specialist/Special Education. She has been married to Keith for 38 years and they have five adult children and four grandchildren. In addition to homeschooling her children classically, Terry has over 20 years of formal classroom teaching experience. Before she came to GCA, Terry taught 5th grade at Shannon Forest Christian School. Terry loves using Latin in her teaching, and has taught Latin for a total of 11 years. Terry is an IEW Accredited Instuctor. This is her third year of teaching 5th grade at GCA.
Kim Matlock - 6th Grade
Miss Matlock has a B.S. and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University. She currently holds SC state certification as well as SCACS certification. Kim taught third grade for three years at Hampton Park Christian School. Kim is an IEW Accredited Instructor. She is in her ninth year of teaching at GCA.
Chris Barnes - Dean of Students and Families, Athletic Director
Mr. Barnes holds a SC certificate to teach Social Studies. He earned a B.A. in Social Studies and a B.S. in History from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC. He earned his MDiv from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In the past, he taught for Christian Learning Centers of Greenville Country as a Bible Release-Time educator serving Woodmont High and Brashier Charter. Before serving on the mission field, he taught at Southside High School. He has previously coached high school basketball, volleyball, softball and soccer. He has previously taught Ancient History, Government and Economics at GCA. This is Mr. Barnes' fourth year at GCA.

Dr. Carrick earned a B.A in Modern Languages, a Certificate of Education, and a M.A. in Modern Languages from Oxford University, England. He also earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Preaching from Westminster Theological Seminary, California. He and his wife Linda have a daughter who is in 6th grade at GCA. This is his fourth year of teaching Latin at GCA.

Miss Downing earned a B.S. in Math Education from Bob Jones University. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she also plays the piano for the Hymn of the Month for Upper School Chapel and guides the students with the Upper School student newspaper. This is her fifth year of teaching at GCA.

Miss MacQuarrie earned a B.S. in Speech Education from Northland International University and an M.A. in Theater Arts from Bob Jones University. She previously taught Fundamentals of Speech at BJU. This is Miss MacQuarrie's third year of teaching Public Speaking at GCA and her second year as Events Coordinator and teaching Drama.

Mr. Moller has 32 years experience teaching math and science in Christian Schools. He and his wife Anna moved to the Upstate from Charleston in 2015. They are members at Downtown Presbyterian Church. This is Mr. Moller's third year of teaching at GCA.

She and her husband Mark have two children. In the past Mrs. Swanson taught Genearl Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, and Algebra I Honors at GCA. This is Mrs. Swanson's eighth year of teaching at GCA.

Mr. Timms has a B.A. in Bible from Columbia International University in Columbia, SC and a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary. He is Senior Pastor at Fulton Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Greer. In the past, Mr. Timms has taught Hermeneutics, Christian Worldview, and Apologetics at GCA. Grover and his wife Lisa have three children, the oldest of whom graduated from GCA in 2011 and a middle child who graduated in 2017 and is attending Patrick Henry College. This is Mr. Timms' seventh year of teaching at GCA.

Stephanie Underwood - History Play
Mrs. Underwood earned a B.A. in Creative Writing from Bob Jones University.
Mrs. VanDeusen received a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. in Voice Performance from Bob Jones University. She recently moved back to the Upstate from the Orlando area where she had a private voice and piano studio. This is her second year of teaching at GCA.
Mrs. McDonald has a degree in Christian Education. She has taught in Christian private schools while having some experience in home school co-ops. She and her husband Chris have two children who are students at GCA in 8th grade and 6th grade. They moved from Florida to the Upstate ain 2016. This is her second year at GCA and her first year as Office Manager
This is Sarah's third year at GCA and first year as Lower School Aide. She was previously the Office Manager at GCA. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Milligan College. Sarah and her husband Josh have a daughter in 5th grade at GCA. They are members of Grace Church -- Harrison Bridge.

Dr. Hopson serves as Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at North Greenville University located in Tigerville, SC. He also is assistant coach for NGU's soccer team. He previously served as Headmaster at Pleasant Grove Christian School in Fountain Inn. He and his wife Linda reside in Mauldin and are members of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church where George serves as an elder. George has served on the board for eight years.
Faith Martzin, Secretary
Faith is married to John and have three children: Their son James graduated from GCA in May 2015 and is attending Clemson University. Their daughter Lydia graduating from GCA in 2017. Their married daughter, Nina, has a four-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter making John and Faith grandparents of a GCA student. Faith is a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church (PCA) and is a Jr. High Sunday School teacher and choir member. She is also a Chaplain for American Heritage Girls. She received a B.A. from Bob Jones University in 1985 and a J.D. from The University of South Carolina School of Law, in 1988. She practices law at Martzin Law located off Woodruff Road. She was born in Cookville, TN and currently lives in Fountain Inn. Faith has served on the board for 12 years.
Jim Crotti, Treasurer
Jim and his wife Annette live in Greer, SC. Their daughter Alexandra graduated from GCA in 2017 and is attending Furman University. Jim is a Senior Vice President at Willis. They are members of Grace Church on Pelham Road in Greenville. Jim has served on the board for four years.
Larry and his wife Carese have five children - all of whom are students at GCA in 10th grade, 9th grade, 6th grade, 3rd grade and 2nd grade. Larry owns a construction business called General Contract Management (GCM). Larry and Carese live in the Greenville area and are members of Downtown Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Larry has served on the board for eight years.
Del Dee Hindman
Del Dee is married to Dr. Matthew Hindman and they live in Greenville, SC with their four children, all of whom are students at GCA. Del Dee is a stay-at-home mom who currently volunteers at GCA as a board member and coordinator for GCA's annual Fall Festival and Holiday Market. She is passionate about mentoring and enjoys working with ladies of all ages who are seeking a Christ-filled life. Del Dee and her family are members of Community Baptist Church in Greer. Del Dee has served on the board for four years.
Ron and his wife Jenny-Lynn have four daughters who are all students at GCA, from K5 to 5th grade. They live in West Greenville and are members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA), where Ron also serves as a Deacon. Ron is a Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence. This is his second year on the board.
Jason and his wife Melissa have five children, four of whom are students at GCA. They are members of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church in Simpsonville. This is his second year on the board.
